RNC

i tried to be open minded tonight and watch a little of the red-staters big event. not to far into my viewing mike huckabee convinced me that my americanismfacation (see, i can make up words too) may be in question for a few of the following reasons.

i don't own any toby keith albums
my dad was an accountant, not a laborer*
i didn't bath in lava soap as a youth. we had lava soap but i didn't wash my balls with it.

he then proceeded to tell a story about some teacher who didn't give her students desks on the first day of class until they declared what tasks they needed to complete in order to earn a desk. at the end of the day after not one student had successfully guessed her answer, a group of veterans entered her classroom with the desks and placed them in neat rows. her day concluded with a statement resembling "you don't have to earn them because they did it for you". i have complete respect for veterans but...

perhaps if educators would avoid wasting instructional time with political propaganda we might not have "no child left behind" (which smells like damn big government to me). you are paid to stamp out ignorance and stupidity by way of thorough and intense instruction.

*he did labor hard working through college and served in the navy during the vietnam war. does this increase my americanismfication-worth?

The other night I watched part of Guilianai's speech. It was painful but I was able to stick with it until he started to diss the Democrats for not having used the term "Islamic Terrorists" at the DNC, while a huge image of NYC was projected behind him.

Tonight, I gave up earlier, about one minute into the biographical film on McCain. He's a POW, I get it, I appreciate his sacrifice -- but sheesh. And if I see/hear trophy wife Barbie (err, I mean Cindy) talk about how great her sugar daddy is one more time, I'm gonna arrange for her to spend some time with Sarah Palin. Those Republican VPs are always extra careful with their guns when their friends are nearby.

But...I did happen to flip back to a channel showing the convention in time to see the protester hold up his "You Can't Win An Occupation" banner during McCain's speech.
